The Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology of Bushehr University of Medical Sciences stressed stronger technological and industrial ties during a visit to Niroo Gostar Lian.

Dr Shokrollah Farrokhi visited the different departments of Niroo Gostar Lian and, in a joint meeting with the company’s managing director and specialists, pointed to the need to redefine and strengthen the link between university and industry: the modest level of some past collaborations came partly from paying less attention to industry relations; in recent years, however, developing technological and industrial cooperation has been firmly emphasized, and we are determined to follow that path with careful planning.

He added: for cooperation to be effective, the problems and challenges of each department and of the university first have to be identified precisely. If we move forward asking what the problems are and how they can be solved, many of the obstacles will be removed.

Dr Farrokhi noted: in building that relationship it must be clear what services the university can offer and what capacity the company has. By exchanging proposals and defining shared fields, a cooperation agreement can be drawn up and joint research and technology projects carried out.

The managing director of Niroo Gostar Lian, referring to the company’s record, said: the company began work in 2007 and is known today as the only laboratory in the south of the country cooperating with the General Directorate of Standards. Over the past years we have also worked with universities across the province and the country.

Stressing the company’s infrastructure, Eng. Seyed Hossein Razavi added: in equipment, technical infrastructure and specialist capability we are at a good level, and with purposeful planning we can reach the goals we have set. When the infrastructure and the right conditions exist in our own province, why should we draw on the capacity of other provinces? We are ready to strengthen our cooperation inside the province.

The managing director of Niroo Gostar Lian noted: we have started a new cooperation with the Marine Biotechnology Incubator of Bushehr University of Medical Sciences, and in HSE too there is good scope for cooperation and joint projects with the university.

During the visit, one of the company’s specialists introduced the laboratory units and reported on the company’s fields of work, noting that it works on standardizing tests and on evaluating heavy-metal and hydrocarbon contaminants in foodstuffs, toys, stationery, automotive parts, agricultural products and non-metallic building materials, along with other specialized tests related to standards.

The Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology of Bushehr University of Medical Sciences visited the different parts of Niroo Gostar Lian and, in a joint meeting with the managing director and the company’s specialists, the scope for developing scientific and technological cooperation was reviewed.

At the end of the meeting it was agreed that a joint cooperation agreement, together with the specific proposals of both sides, would be drawn up and signed so that the shared programmes can be carried out.
